Boy Am I Spoiled!!!

We've gotten to a point where the nightly cooking duties are divided. We've been doing this for about the last month, and it's been heavenly. Z cooks on Sunday, I cook on Monday, Q has Tuesday, DJ Wednesday, G does Thursday, B (who begged to be added to the rotation) has Fridays. A is also begging (as of tonight) for a night, so he might just be added in for Saturday. It's amazing to only have this one night a week. I LOVE it.

G, a few months ago, told us that he didn't like to cook. He only felt this because his sisters on either side of him really like to bake--cookies, cakes, brownies, whatever is sweet and gooey and yummy--nice to have girls after my own heart.

We are trying to help him overcome his feelings of not being a cook. So, tonight G and I sat down to find a recipe for Thursday evening. Here's what we came up with. I share it here because it looked so yummy and easy--well, relatively so. The tricky part is going to be the pizza crust. I may just buy ready-made dough, or have it made up in my bread machine before he gets home at 4pm.

Let me know if you try it and how you like it.

Tell G its okay not to like to cook, but it is really fun.Since his sisters love to make the sweets, he could love to make the main courses. Or he could love to make the sweets as well.

Hopefully after you two make the pizza he will enjoy cooking more, sence almost every kid loves pizza.

Have a great week and I hope G changes his mind about cooking!

Sounds like a plan. How great to at least give it a shot. I hope it all works out and he starts to enjoy it and sees that cooking can be fun.

Our family rotates jobs, too, and it works really well and I love it, too; at our house, Dad should be a professional chef, the way he throws things together and it comes out great every time! It's the rest of us that need some help! My kids (and Dad) probably wouldn't settle for the pizza roll; they'd want the regular flat kind. Sometimes, not very adventurous around here, just traditional.

My kind of recipe! That's great you've got things so organized in your family. What a great idea.

We did this growing up- it was such a great experience for us kids- and I am sure my parents enjoyed it too. It was hard to stop cooking for a family of 6 when I was out on my own- but now I simply freeze half the meal for a later time(I didn't do that as a 19 year old tho). Enjoy!

I love the thought of only having to cook once a week!
And I think it is good for the kids to know how too.
The recipe looks yummy.

How jealous am I?

It's pretty rare that anyone else cooks besides me. I do often make the kids do their own lunch, but dinner...that's mine.

Sigh.
