Need to Vent

So, what do I do? While I was in labor, the doctor encouraged me to go in and get a work up done on my heart. I called today to make that appointment. They told me that if my symptoms return then I should call them. They are going to do nothing. So, basically, if my heart starts to go berzerk, I should call and make an appointment. Does this seem strange to anyone else? Hmm. If that happens, I can promise you I'm not going to wait on hold with Kaiser. That will be called an Emergency Room visit.

Who did you talk to to make the appointment? Can you call your primary care doctor? Maybe they can get you in quicker, or at least listen to your story so when you are in the ER they won't be surprised. Grrr.

I would totally just make an appointment...what's the saying? "It's better to be safe than sorry."

That's what I would do. Even if all they say is that you're fine...well, at least you'd know.

Austin had some weird heart problems when he was around three. They had him wear this monitor and whenever he felt weird he pushed a button and it recorded whatever his heart was doing at the time. He did this for a week. Perhaps they'd do the same for you.

I'd definitely not wait for another episode to happen first though.

I would for sure call your primary care dr and get an appt. I have heard that Kaiser is really hard to work with, knowing that, maybe just try and fight a little harder. It may be worth having your OB dr call the other office and get his imput to get the appt scheduled for you...good luck with things.

Contact the Dr who witnessed your cardiac issues and have him refer you, or use his name at time of making appt. Then, say, Gee, I would hate to be the one that denied me the necessary testing if something were to happen"...I'm just saying...I've had Kaiser for over 13 yrs and have been satisfied more than not and when I make it personal, stuff happens in my favor. BTW... I nolonger can use them due to our move and I MISS it!

Your heart is central to your life upon this planet.

Ashlynn was an outpatient to the renown Dr. King in Portland for her first 3 years of life with her cardio issues. She was monitored off and on and I'm grateful she thrives! She still has pulmonary stenosis of the artery, after a hole in the heart...her heart still murmurs like her Dad sporadically, which freaks us out from time to time.

We had Kaiser with Ryan's major lung issues and Doernbecher's Children's Hospital and his care there saved his life, no doubt.

I'm all for lungs and hearts! Take care...
