Climbing Out of My Cave

Last Monday, I ventured out to go to an exercise class.  Friends have been inviting me to go for months and maybe even years to go.  I went again on Wednesday and again this morning.  As I walked into the gym, I had the strangest sensation.  It was honestly like I had just emerged into the sunlight after having been in a deep, dark cave for a verrry long time.

When I started school again, I knew I'd have to sacrifice to do so.  But I don't think I had a solid plan as to what that sacrifice would have to be because I'm sure I didn't know just what I was getting myself in for and what I was up against.

As I entered the gym, I suddenly realized what I'd given up--time with other women--girl time.  The kind of time you choose to use in that way.  I have pretty much cut myself off from fun with friends.

That's where this blog has come in.  It has been  my social connection with the world.  Thank you for connecting with me.

Now that I only have two and a half classes left, I look forward to reconnecting.  I really should start some kind of list of all the things I'm going to do when the oppression ends--HaHa!  It's really not that bad.  It's just getting really hard to endure to the end--something else I didn't account for.

There's a fantabulous book called "Twenty Wishes" about making "lists" of things to do in life, it's really fun, you should read it (you know, when you're not doing homework). It's part of a series but you can read just it- it's not one of those series that you have to have read all the previous books.

Good luck with the rest of the classwork! I admire that you're able to tackle all of this.

Maybe you've already said this somewhere....BUT....what are you going back to school to do? I think it's pretty admirable to do school and serve your large family. You are pretty fantastic.

Girl time IS so important. They reach out to you and fill your soul in ways that others can't. I believe that's why the visiting teaching program is so important! Just having that monthly "girl time" is an uplift. YOU are an uplift as well in so many ways. Thanks for opening up your heart and spirit with us all.
