Restless Heart

For the past two weeks, my heart has been taking off on its own.  This morning, I realized what it's like.  Have you ever heard of restless leg syndrome?  I had it just a couple brief times when I was pregnant, but it's when you're completely relaxed and your leg jerks involuntarily.  Some people get this where it does it all the time.  I can't imagine how annoying that would be.

Well, for me, it's my heart that's jerking involuntarily when I'm completely relaxed.  "Jerking's" not really the right descriptor.  It's like an adrenaline surge.

I finally went in to see the doctor (aren't you proud of me, Janiece?).  I went in because it started on Thursday night at about 8:30 and continued until the next morning.  In this case, it was beating like crazy, and I couldn't get it to slow down.

Of course, by the time I got in to see the doctor, it was back down to normal.  I had an EKG, and it was perfectly fine.  I had blood work done, and it was better than last time.  Nice to have that reassurance.

They're putting me on a heart monitor at the end of the month.  This probably means I'll have it with me on my trip, so I get to get the thing through airport security.  Fun times!

If I were wearing the monitor this morning, it would have already been pushed about ten times.  Just super annoying!

When I had this when I was pregnant, no one ever could tell me what it was.  I never had an episode while I was at the doctor.  It wasn't until I was in the hospital being monitored right before #7 was born that they had me hooked up to the blood pressure machine and I set the alarm off over and over again with a racing pulse.  Finally, they believed me.

Anyway, it's nice to know that I'm completely healthy except for this darned symptom of a crazed heart that no one can feel but me.

I am very proud of you!
and tell them you do not want to WAIT until the end of the month...NOW would be a good time.
Arrhythmia tachycardia is NOT a good thing.
And remember, I had never had a bad EKG...
well until..you know.
Thank you for going to the doctor.
It may be a simple as a beta blocker to get feeling better..
but then I am not a doctor...
Thank you again for getting checked out.

and by the way ...patdowns are not that bad...just keep clicking your heals and say "make the bad man/lady go away" and suddenly it is ALL OVER...:O)

Thanks Janiece. I thought of you while I dialed the phone. Glad to know about your EKG situation. It's hard when it's going on inside because you start to wonder if you're just going nuts.

I'll be repeating that mantra while being strip searched. Thanks a lot!

Julie, First, THANK YOU for even thinking of me for the blogging award. I feel humbled that you would consider me. Thank You!

I have been meaning to write you to let you know that my husbands siblings (luckily not my hubby) struggle with the heart condition you are struggling with (at least it seems like the same thing.) I don't want to spell it out, but the comment above me did (thanks;) Two out of the three siblings have gone in for the surgery where they deaden the nerve that is causing the heart to fall out of rhythm. I have a friend who's baby has the same thing. She didn't know until the baby had a life threatening episode. The baby now takes medicine daily that has kept things under control.

Good Luck! I'm glad we have the technology to find out what is wrong during things like this. Although, I really hate the whole waiting game thing! Take Care!

Wow really, I am having the exact same thing going on. As of right now. I refuse to go to the doc, well cuz we don't need another bill, and truthfully, I just might be a little crazy. lol I did go about a year ago while I went in for a miscarriage, they put a ekg on me and thought to themselves I was one messed up (in da head) girl. Let me know if what you find out :0)

Huh. That's disconcerting. I hope nothing is seriously wrong. It's great that you are aware of your body and hopefully you can help circumvent any future issues. Keep us informed.
