More Smiling and Waving

Went to the soccer tournament for our child that's playing summer soccer this morning.  Between games, the coach came up to the warden and said, "You know...God makes exceptions sometimes."  The Warden chuckled, in his good-natured way, and replied, "Yes, sometimes He does, but this isn't one of those."  It is clear that the coach wants our child on the other team, but you know, like my dad always says, "Wantin' ain't gettin'."

You know what occurs to me on the "exceptions" line.... You could ask the coach--Would you start a kid on the A team if they were not consistently committed in practice and doing their best each day to follow your coaching?

Of course not.

Well.... My kid's trying to make an A team of a different sort, and being wishy washy about commitment or following the "Coach" isn't going to help. Please respect that. And please respect that said Coach outranks you.

I love Zan's easy going way about things. He said it perfect! Hopefully now the guy will just get the message already!! I mean come on mister! Right?!

Yes, I think a reminder to this coach that he asked for your son to be on the team in the first place and that you were up front with him on your conditions is in order here. He is being manipulative and unfair, acting like a child actually. I wouldn't want my child playing for a coach like that. But it doesn't mean that things can't get better.
