Stats

HaHa!  As I wrote the title, I realized that some people may think they're stepping back in time, and I'm writing about the nightmare that was my statistics class.  But, alas, no.

I got to looking at the statistics that are attached with this blog.  I think it's fascinating to see how many people are reading and just what they're reading, but I've started noticing lately that people are reading old stuff.  I don't mind that at all, but I think it's kind of funny.

Here's what the stats said tonight as far as what people have been reading for the past few hours:

It just really got me wondering....I mean, I know when I go to someone's blog, I usually read the first post and frequently read further--maybe the entire first page.  Sometimes, if I really want to get the background of the blog and blogger, I'll go all the way back to the very first post.  By the way, don't go back to mine.  It was BORING.   I told myself after writing it that I'd probably never blog again, and I didn't for a very long time.  If you want to go to the blog that inspired me to start writing again, go here.  She's one of my favorite people.

So, back to wondering....What takes someone to a post from April or February?  Is someone linking to my posts?  Fun stuff!  I wonder who and why.  I hope it's a good link and not one of those can-you-believe-this-chick kind of links.  Or maybe people are googling certain words and finding their way to old posts.  Hard to say.
Anyway, thank you for reading my blitherings.  It's nice to have visitors even if you can't believe this chick.  I hope you find something here that entertains you.

The first one on your list, advice for a teenage girl, may be because i linked to it on friday.

I think I may have linked to one or two of yours over the years, although I'm sure you've been mentioned a time or two (whether or not by name).

When I read a new blog, I would tend to start at the most recent entry and read back a few pages depending on how interesting it is and how much disposable time I have available (ha!)

From there, I tend to look over the topic tags and see anything that looks interesting (which may happen again at various times later if a topic looks interesting suddenly.

I've noticed the same thing in my blog—that people seem to do the same, I'll get pageviews on a bunch of entries with the same topic tag in a row. It's interesting to see which tags get interest too.

Thanks Darilyn! I read your post. How'd it go?

I just have to say, I love your oldest daughter. She's such a sweetheart. I saw her tonight at Encore practice. She always goes out of her way to say hi to me when she sees me.

She seemed to be all smiles tonight, so I hope the advice worked.

You always entertain me and you are definitely one of my favorite peoples too. So glad you joined the blogging bandwagon. I love reading your blitherings( hey, i'm diggin' that word!)It seems to be a dying thing. I've noticed more and more blogs that I used to love to read with nothing but very old posts. But I will not let my blog die. I love it. And I have no desire to start a journal. I need some way to document my life.

Actually, Tonya, there's a growing number of us for whom our blogs are our personal/family journals. (Which in my case is really the only reason it's friends-only instead of being open to the whole internet.) So I don't see any problem with that! Julie's blog here is a wonderful record of her family's life. I think printing it out someday and making a permanent family record out of it would be a great idea.

Even stuff that sounds like meaningless blithering now may be a treasury of memories when re-read decades from now.
