The Madhouse

I decided last week that I was done with having to look for lost items all the time. It's not so much me losing things as it is having to search for things that everyone else in the house has lost. I had gone around the house that morning looking for my preschool son's backpack. He had already been looking for about 20 minutes, and I was sitting in the car waiting with the baby for him to come out. I told him I'd take him as soon as he found the pack. When we found it, it didn't have his school supply box in it. When we found the box, it had no supplies in it. I had to scrounge around the house for crayons. It was amazing, and although I had planned on going to the grocery store that morning to refill our cupboards after spring break, I decided that I couldn't add any more to our home until everything had a place and was in it.

I stayed home and started in Z's closet. It hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. I always have left that job to him feeling that it was rude of me to go through and throw away his things. That particular morning, I didn't let that bother me. I think he was glad I had done it.

I also got through half of my closet and a third of the kitchen. I've decided that empty spaces are good spaces. At this point, I'm still working on my closet and finishing our bedroom. I like having two areas, the two that I use the most, clean or well on their way to clean.

I'm excited to get going on it again tomorrow, but I realized that I will be volunteering in the middle school library in the morning, so I will wait until I get the baby to bed before really delving in. I do my best work in the morning, so I guess the library will get that. The house will get whatever's left over.
