Maggie is our Boston Terrier. We got her two years ago at the end of this month. We love her a lot, but I'm learning a lot from her.
We've had two dogs in the past. We knew nothing about having a dog. We didn't have them for long--too many messes in the house. Maggie has been a different story. I read a ton before we ever even thought about her being ours. She's been a real sweetheart. Very smart and cute. Does great tricks. After we got her, I didn't read very much. Shame on me, I know.
Well, I found a really great website today on how to put her back in her place of family dog not family member http://www.pets.ca/articles/article-alphadog.htm. We are now trying to demote her. She's just been a real stinker to people she doesn't know. The website said that if a dog does that it's because they think that person is lower in the pecking order than she is. Boy, is she mistaken.
Game on, Maggie. I don't want to have to get rid of her, but I will if this continues I will. My kids would be heartbroken. After what I read today, it isn't going to happen. No more alpha, she is starting to realize she is omega.
