Q is having some friends over Friday night. We're going to be watching a movie. Do you have any ideas of a movie that would be fun and appropriate for 14-15 year old kids?

I just saw Penelope for the first time and loved it! They might enjoy some oldies - Willow, Karate Kid, Monty Python and the Holy Grail?, Goonies. Even if they don't love them, they can laugh at the clothes and hair ;D
Saw your comment at Crazymama's and came to meet you!
Monty Python and the Holy Grail does contain content that would raise some concerned eyebrows in a youth setting with lds standards...
The Princess Bride is an all-time favorite, of course.
What's the general interest level for the group? There are a few I might recommend depending on what sort of group it is.
I loved Penelope too. Maybe some others like What A Girl Wants, Mean Girls, Aquamarine, Ella Enchanted, Ever After-A Cinderella Story, Clueless. This was off the top of my head. I don't know exactly what any of these are rated but there is a start.
Willow!!! Wow supercool hotmama! Thanks for reminding me - that was a fantastic movie!! Sigh. Val Kilmer with long blond hair... haha
Hey Julie! I found your blog. Email me so that I can send you an invite to mine! :) karibel@comcast.net
It seems like every time we try to talk to each other we get interupted...we are going to have to find a time to talk!!

So if they want a scary/suspense movie you could try finding Wait Until Dark. It's from the 60's. I remember watching it at a sleepover when I was probably around her age or a little younger and it had us all holding on to each other and there is one part that was really scary, but in a good kind of way - not the normal 'scary' crap they have for movies now.
ummmm....gosh....i am so OUT OF THE LOOP on things like this....
i know that i love
THE PRINCESS BRIDE. ♥
and
i love NAPOLEON DYNAMITE ♥
and
NACHO LIBRE ♥
and
All THREE SHREK MOVIES ♥
Somehow I missed the fact it was Q and her friends, so, okay... girls... hm.
While I think The Princess Bride still wins, I'll second Darilyn's vote for Ever After. (1998, Drew Barrymore, Angelica Houston, PG) That's the best Cinderella story I've seen, maybe because it's not told as a fairy tale but in a way that really could have happened. Not enough things being blown up for boys to get into, but I think the girls would enjoy it (and makes a good date movie later in life).
For a scary movie, I really loved The Others. (2001, Nicole Kidman, PG-13) Not scary or gross in the usual way, but very suspenseful in a classic Hitchkock sort of sense... keeps you on the edge of your seat as much with what you don't see or are sure about.
"Ever After" with Drew Barrymore is a really good choice..."Rear Window" for suspense (Hitchcock with Jimmy Stewart...) I saw it at a theater with my YW group back in the day ..NO, I'm not THAT old..it was a Hitcock week at the theater...I nearly ate my soda straw! good clean suspense... Anyway, I hope she has a great time. Isn't she turning 14?
10/4, good Buddy.... I'm out!
Tee, hee, hee...didn't think I'd remember...didja? :o)
