Gotta Have Some!

I'm dying for some hot chocolate. We are absolute fanatics about it here at our house this time of year. Some of my kids are picky about the brand they ingest. Swiss Miss is too watery. They like Nestle--the big can of it. That way they can throw in as much powder as pleases them.

Tonight, I went looking for some, and it's gone. Gone. Gone. Gone! I had kids searching all over the house for it. None! So, after some thinking, I realized that there have to be recipes out there for this kind of thing. I turned to my red and white checkered Better Homes & Gardens cookbook, and sure enough. Q, who loves hot chocolate more than any of the rest of us combined, volunteered to be the chef. It should be ready any second.

Here's what it says it takes to make it:

1/3 c. chocolate chips
1/3 c. sugar
4 c. milk

You start out with the chocolate, sugar and half cup of the milk, mix those together in a saucepan over medium heat until the mixture just comes to boiling. You then add the rest of the milk and let it cook until it's heated through. Not too tough.

I love add-ins, so mini marshmallows are coming my way. Yippee!!!

Like you and Q I am a big fan of hot chocolate. We used to get the big can as well, but now we don't need that much for two of us. Anyways so one day I was really craving it. I usually make it with just one packet but that day I used two( could be I was craving chocolate alone).

Anyways, enjoy the hot coco, and be careful around your labtop! Can ruin things.. I would know.

Mmmm. (Bookmarks that recipe for later references...) Nothing quite like hot chocolate. Except maybe any other kind of chocolate. :)

Never tried this recipe, but will this morning! Our kids can empty that can of hot chocolate within a week. They, too, like to add more powder to their cups; they even like to eat the powder straight from the can! (if I were their age, I'd do the same thing. silly, huh?)
Thanks for sharing this recipe. We tried one that called for a hot cocoa mix!? (What's the point of that?) The other recipes weren't quite there, but would pass if we were starving.

We started the holiday season on Saturday by getting out the Christmas boxes, decorating the house, making HOT CHOCOLATE, and watching The Polar Express on Channel 2. It was a blast. We LOVE the cannery hot chocalate. I mix mine with either hazelnut or french vanilla coffee creamer. YUM!!!

I LOVE hot chocolate too! I treat it almost like a dessert. I add marshmellows, some cool whip, and chocolate syrup to the top. OHHH, I'm craving some just thinking about it.

We love the Stephens brand hot chocolate, for when we're feeling not-so-vegan. (Because it is of course milk-based.)

But my very favorite is the recipe on the side of the Hershey's powdered Cocoa canister—"Perfect Hot Cocoa". I can make it with soymilk and I think it's überyummy!

Chocolate chips though... This sounds pretty heavenly too.

Mmmm, that recipe looks so good. I LOVE cocoa/hot chocolate; it's a staple for me during the cold winter months. Mini marshmallows or a big dollop of whipped cream are my favorite toppings when I enjoy my almost daily mug.

I've been meaning to visit your blog and leave a comment for awhile. Thanks for leaving that great comment on my blog a few weeks ago about how you make blogging fit into your life. I appreciated your insight!
